Project Background
The "Common Goals – Different Approaches? Strengthening Transatlantic Cooperation on Global Energy Issues" project is based upon a two-pronged approach of applied research and the Transatlantic Energy Governance Dialogues (TEGD), a multi-stakeholder conference series bringing together EU and US policy-makers, representatives of think tanks, NGOs, academia and the private sector. Research and dialogue are closely integrated and implemented in parallel in order to to inject interim research results into the planned dialogue sessions to foster substantive debate while at the same time also leveraging the expertise and experience of dialogue participants towards the research process.
To ensure that the key project findings are heard throughout the policy world, the research process will generate a number of publications, including a final transatlantic agenda paper, policy papers, articles and op-eds. Furthermore, the Project Team will organize and take part in various events, including the established TEGD program, and "policy breakfasts" for engaging policymakers in the EU and the US, all of which will include representatives from government, industry, academe, civil society and the media.
